English Artemis Sartzetakis is een interdisciplinair kunstenaar uit Athene die zich voornamelijk richt op game-ontwikkeling. Artemis groeide op met een milieueconoom als ouder en was van jongs af aan bewust van de schadelijke effecten van klimaatverandering. Dit werd versterkt door hun diepe bewondering voor de complexiteit, schoonheid en voortdurende verandering van de natuur.
Artemis laat zich niet beïnvloeden door post-apocalyptische beelden van de toekomst en het vaak pessimistische klimaatdebat in de kunstwereld. In plaats daarvan dagen hen zichzelf uit om werk te maken dat verbonden is met echte, politieke actie. Artemis’ nieuwste werk zet de saaie taak om vertegenwoordigers over klimaatverandering te benaderen om in een speelse game, waardoor klimaatactivisme een stuk luchtiger en leuker wordt.
Hypercasual Push to Send is een unieke combinatie van een flashgame en een platform voor klimaatactivisme. Spelers gebruiken een gamepad om op een interactieve manier een ondertekende e-mail te versturen naar leden van het Europees Parlement (EP), waarin ze hen aansporen om groene wetgeving te steunen. Met surrealistische graphics en een responsief geluidontwerp maakt dit spel de serieuze boodschap van klimaatactie toegankelijk en leuk.
Artemis Sartzetakis studeerde beeldhouwkunst, schilderkunst, performancekunst en interactieve kunst aan de Athens School of Fine Arts en volgde een Erasmusprogramma in kostuumontwerp aan de Koninklijke Academie voor Schone Kunsten in Antwerpen. Artemis volgde de afgelopen drie maanden een residency bij Artist Residencies Enschede (ARE) in samenwerking met The Overkill Festival. Hun nieuwste werk wordt gepresenteerd tijdens The Overkill Festival en in Tetem. Tetem biedt gastkunstenaars van ARE de mogelijkheid om nieuw werk te presenteren in de expositieruimte Meet 2 en interactie aan te gaan met een divers publiek.

Artemis Sartzetakis is an Athens based interdisciplinary Artist working predominantly with game development. Raised by an environmental economist, they were made aware of the adverse effects of climate change from an early age. This, coupled with their deep appreciation of the complexity, beauty and constant flux of the natural world.
Rather than being influenced by post-apocalyptic future visions and the often pessimistic climate discourse in the art world, Artemis challenges themself to create work linked to real political action. Their latest work strives to gamify the tedious process of contacting representatives about climate change, injecting levity and joy into climate action.
Hypercasual Push to Send uniquely combines a flash game and a platform for climate activism. Players use a gamepad to interactively send a signed email to Members of the European Parliament (MEPs), urging them to support green legislation. With surreal graphics and responsive sound design, this game makes the serious message of climate action both accessible and fun.
Artemis studied sculpture, painting, performance art, and interactive art at the Athens School of Fine Arts and completed an Erasmus program in costume design at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. Over the past three months, Artemis completed a residency at Artist Residencies Enschede (ARE) in collaboration with The Overkill Festival. Their latest work is presented during The Overkill Festival and in Tetem, where guest artists from ARE are offered the opportunity to showcase new work in the Meet 2 exhibition space and interact with a diverse audience.
