Kinderopening: Gen C: Children of 2050

In the interactive exhibition ‘Gen C: Children of 2050’ artist and designer Bianca Carague plays with different possible futures and skills needed to adapt in an uncertain world. The exhibition is a growing installation and is activated through four different bedrooms of four future children: Non-Fungible Child, Folkfarma Kid, Renaissance Kid & Impact Generation.

The exhibition officially kicks off with a special children’s opening on Thursday, March 10. Children from the age of 8 are welcome to be the first ones, together with their supervisors, to shape the imaginary worlds of four future children. What does the future look like for children in 2050? Will children still be made of flesh and blood or will digital children also exist? How will the children of the future deal with the planet, the climate and nature?

During the opening workshop Material Worldbuilding, children and the artist Bianca Carague will develop ideas about what the furniture, toys, clothing or plants of the future could look like. The output will be processed by Bianca in her digital artworks. The exhibition is main part of the Maker Festival Twente 2022 with a highlight in May.

Like many, we are deeply shocked by the developments in Ukraine and concerned about the effects of the war on the people of the country. While we invite you to the children’s opening of Gen C: Children of 2050, with the opening we also want to take this opportunity to reflect on and support the children effected by the war. Both the exhibition and the opening are pay-what-you-want. Instead of making a donation to Tetem, we encourage our visitors to make a donation to Giro 555 of the Cooperating Aid Organizations for Ukrainian refugees. This action is part of the national campaign 🧡rt for Ukraine of the cultural field.

The opening for children (8+) with supervisors is on Thursday, March 10 at 4 pm and at 7 pm.
The opening at both times lasts a maximum of one hour.
Reservations are not necessary.
