Dutch Design Daily: I want to delete it all, but not now

Publiceerdatum: 26 april, 2021

Apps, video platforms and social media have become an essential part of our daily life. But to what price? “I want to delete it all, but not now” is a playful and conceptual escape room created by media artist Roos Groothuizen. It questions our personal choices to escape the data industry where our online behavior is constantly recorded and resold. We have all thought of going offline or exploring alternatives, but what is holding us back?

The escape room takes place in the missing international student Rosa Aringa’s room. As a private investigator, you will search for the reasons behind Rosa’s disappearance by tracing her steps. What was she doing online? Has her disappearance been staged? And who owned all those cryptic apps? In a 60-minute experience, players will solve physical and digital puzzles that challenge them about their own digital dilemmas such as online addiction, privacy, and responsibility. They will be aware of the decisions preventing them from taking action and control on their internet consumption. You can play the escape room remotely via a livestream camera, with the help of the host in Tetem.
