Patricia Reyes (a.k.a. “As part of the Ethics of Socially Disruptive Technologies (ESDT) research programme, my project looks into the role of digital technologies in the emergence of climate activism networks”.

Nishant Shah is Director of Research & Outreach en Professor Aesthetics and Culture of Technologies aan ArtEZ University of the Arts. “My work focuses on the intersections of body, identity, digital technologies, artistic practice and activism, with a special focus on non-canonical geographies. My current interest is in thinking through questions of artificial intelligence, digital subjectivity and misinformation towards building inclusive, diverse, resilient and equitable societies”.

Patricia: “Tetem does a great job in capturing the essence of Twente’s unique interpretation on the intersection of art and technology. I’m personally attracted to the themes and societal problems they explore through their collaborations, but most importantly, I believe their support to makers in the region is really important.” The most exciting part about the Tetem team is that professional excellence is just the bare minimum. Their strength is in humane, critical, and community engaged practice that is committed to improving, learning, and growing. The team at Tetem is a manifestation of a pedagogic and curatorial practice that is unique, urgent, and responding to the emerging challenges of our local and global circumstances.” The Lab is super impressive, the moment I stepped in, I felt I could spend hours in there letting my creativity and imagination loose!”

It’s probably the combination of having hands-on experience in creating and developing technologies with my active role as a philosopher of technology. This combination allows me to assess on one hand, the social and political impact of Tetem’s focus in digital culture, and on the other hand, the opportunities for exploring new platforms and techniques.” “To find the language, research context, and vocabulary to document the strenghts that Tetem has. In its modes of working, in the approach it has initiated, and in the deep-seated intertwining of politics and care, there are lessons to be learned. To make these claims, and to translate them into processes and structures which can be communicated beyond the immediate networks, and to encourage infrastructure building around them, is what I hope to contribute to the team.”

Afstand dichterbij in Tetem
